Serena Ryder Honoured in Millbrook This Thursday

Serena-RyderSerena Ryder will “Stompa” into the Village of Millbrook this Thursday July 3rd, announces a press release from the Department of Economic and Community Development for Cavan Monaghan Township.   The community is invited to welcome her at 1pm at the Township of Cavan Monaghan Office (988 County Rd 10, Millbrook) for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Ms. Ryder, who grew up in Millbrook, earned Artist of the Year and Songwriter of the Year at the Juno Awards held earlier this year.  To honour her accomplishments and her talent, the community has come together to identify a way to celebrate Ms. Ryder by adopting additional signage, recognizing the village of Millbrook as Serena’s home.
The new signs, which feature the logo from Ms. Ryder’s current album, Harmony, were designed by her mother Barbara, also an accomplished artist, author, painter and master Signcrafter.  Mrs. Ryder is a 2-time winner of show card (window display) competitions and held a teaching appointment with George Brown College in Toronto as part of the “Signgraphics’ team.
“The Township of Cavan Monaghan is home to a number of notable artists and Serena is one more example of how rich our community is in diverse local arts, culture and heritage” says Township Chief Administrative Officer Yvette Hurley.
Serena will be making the stop in her hometown of Millbrook on her way to Peterborough where she will be headlining a benefit concert for Five Counties Children’s Charity.
