Save The Date: Township to Host Harvest Table Dinner on September 13th

In September 2018, the Township hosted its first Harvest Table Dinner, which celebrated the community’s rural heritage and local agricultural producers. The sold-out event was a success and earned positive feedback from the community while raising funds for the Cavan Monaghan Community Centre.  A second event scheduled for this fall was approved under the 2024 economic development operating budget to boost tourism in the region.

The event features a family style dinner served on a long table serving a meal prepared by local chefs using local food, craft brewers and local wines.  Included in the 2024 municipal budget, this event will occur on Friday, September 13, 2024 on Needler’s Lane by the Millpond.  The slight change in venue will minimize the disruption on King Street and the natural historic location provides a picturesque backdrop for the event.

This event is designed to develop tourism in the area and promotion will target both local residents and potential visitors from surrounding regions, Greater Toronto Area, Peterborough County, Durham Region, City of Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland County. Kawarthas Tourism will help the municipality promote the event both inside and outside the region.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) has committed to provide $5,000 as a sponsorship fee, and staff are seeking additional sponsors for the event, which has an anticipated cost of $22,500.

Profit from the event will be directed to local not-for-profit community agencies to be determined by Council when the numbers are tallied after the event’s conclusion.  KG
