Our Community Choir is hosting another Christmas concert this year on December 9th at 2:30 at the Millbrook Christian Assembly in Millbrook.
Under the skillful direction of Mark Hiscox and featuring his brother Justin on piano, the group will provide a festive afternoon of musical entertainment followed by light refreshments to ensure everyone embraces the Christmas spirit.
At this year’s Christmas concert our talented performers will be joined by a group of bellringers from Trinity United Church in Peterborough who call themselves The Bells of Trinity. Led by their Minister of Music, Robert Grandy, CRCCO, CDM, the group was formed in 1983 when a generous donation was received to purchase a three-octave set of handbells. Over the years, the group has played at various locations throughout southern Ontario. Many of the group’s members have travelled throughout the province to attend handbell conventions organized by the Ontario Guild of English Handbell Ringers (OGEHR). Several years ago, another generous donation was received allowing for the purchase of a three-octave set of handchimes which add another sound dimension to the group. “The Bells of Trinity” currently ring selections approximately twice a month during Sunday morning services. The group consists of members and non-members of the church, and often presents bell quartets and other small group selections, especially from the “Note-a-bells”, a small group of ringers under the direction of Nathalie Poirier-Cox. We all come together to “make a joyful noise to the Lord.”
Tickets are $12 for adults and $30 for a family and can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling Marlene at 705-932-2566. KG
