Laszlo Prising – a second career for this photographer
Originally from Hungary, Laszlo Prising moved to Cavan ten years ago in anticipation of retiring from his job as a chemist in Scarborough.
Since his retirement, he has been investing his time developing his love of photography. This passion began at an early age with a small plastic camera, but his skills and his equipment has come a long way since then. This photographer brings an eye for detail and an artistic bent to his work. In photos of his own grandchildren, he often takes an off-kilter perspective rather than taking the photo straight on, an approach that adds visual interest and personality.
He enjoys taking portraits, particularly of families, and has been developing a portfolio of equine and art photography as well. His work has been recognized in public photography exhibits as well. Three of his photos have been selected for this year’s Spark Photo Festival and will be on exhibit in the lobby of the Peterborough YMCA this month, and previous work was selected for the Brampton Scotiabank Photography Festival.
His approach to the business side of things is also a bit unusual. Demonstrating a confidence in his results, he charges no booking fees and there are no minimum purchase levels for his photo shoots. In his words, “You only pay for what you love…”. Customers select the images and sizes they require at very reasonable rates, with prices as low as $10 for a 4×6 print. Images are edited or not, according to the clients’ wishes. Custom prints are also available in a variety of media including canvas, acrylic, or metal.
