The Peterborough Petes are returning to the CMCC on September 23rd for a pre-season game against the Niagara Ice Dogs. Hosted by Millbrook Minor Hockey, the association hopes to help offset an operating deficit that has plagued them since Covid. The event is licensed for alcohol sales, which should help boost the bottom line.

Once again, Millbrook Minor Hockey is hosting a preseason Peterborough Petes game at the CMCC.  On September 23rd, the “home” team will face off against the Niagara Ice Dogs in a match starting at 7 pm.

Tickets will be going on sale soon, with plans to offer general admission tickets as well as confirmed seating tickets to allow people to retain their seats if they leave them for a break, perhaps to purchase a beverage.  General admission tickets will cost $20, and reserved seats will cost $25.

This year the beverage menu will expand to include beer.  Council approved a one-time exemption to the Municipal Alcohol policy and granted them permission to sell alcohol at the event.  This part of the program will be managed by Capt25 Craft Beer Company of Port Perry, which produces a wide selection of craft beer.  This firm will provide the Special Occasion Permit, bar service and liability insurance for the event, a service they currently provide at the Memorial Centre during the Peterborough Petes and Peterborough Lakers seasons.  A site plan will be developed in conjunction with township staff and security will be provided by MDMHA.

This is a significant fundraising event for Millbrook Minor Hockey, which is projecting a $24,000 budget this season, despite raising their registration rates.  The organization receives the proceeds of all ticket sales to this event, but incur expenses including facility rental and operational costs for the event.  They hope to net $10,000 after expenses.  They are looking for an event sponsor which could be featured in marketing material for this event, as well as season sponsors to help address the shortfall. The organization is also on the hook for the purchase of 300 tickets for the club at the Millbrook Stars night at the December 14th Peterborough Petes game.

Come and spend a Saturday evening supporting your minor hockey association while getting a preview of this year’s local OHL team.  For more information, ……. KG
