On December 16th, the North Cavan Parent Council hosted their annual Turkey Lunch in the gym.
Over 170 diners enjoyed hot turkey, stuffing, vegetables, gravy and cookies in long tables occupied by students, staff, bus drivers, volunteers and invited guests in a communal meal prepared by the women of St. John’s Ida Anglican Church. Over 80 pounds of turkey were prepared, potatoes peeled and gravy made and delivered hot to the school that morning. Parents organized the stuffing and vegetables, and guests brought their plates and smiles to a buffet-style set up where they could choose to go the meat-and-potatoes route or vegetarian style, with no questions asked.
Students were particularly pleased to see their former Principal Bob Sinclair at the event, who was treated to a round of applause and many hugs from students and staff. KG
