Amanda Nichols of Millbrook was the recipient of the 2017 Program of the Year award at this year’s Ontario Fire and Life Safety Educators conference for the program she created on behalf of the Peterborough Fire Services. This prestigious award is given to the fire department which creates a new program or modernizes an existing program in an innovative, creative and unique way, or which greatly exceeded the target goals set in terms of program reach/effectiveness and positive community impact. Amanda designed a program called “Sound the Alarms” which encourages the installation and regular testing of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Participants take a pledge and have their names entered into a monthly draw to win a free Fire Safety prize pack. Congratulations, Amanda!
