We are starting November with a bit of chaos hereat the CMLibraries. The Millbrook Branch will be closed on Tuesday, November 4thand Wednesday, November 5th so that the main room of the library can be painted. To compensate, the Bruce Johnston Branch will be open on Wednesday, November 5th for Drop in Kids Crafters from 10:30am-12:30pm and all other library services.
We will be having a Silent Auction at our Bruce Johnston Branch from 10:00am on Tuesday, November 4th until 3:00pm on Tuesday, November 18th. We will also be having a Christmas Craft Sale, available at both of our branches from Tuesday, November 18thuntil Tuesday, December 23rd. Most items on the Christmas tree will be 3 for $10 unless otherwise posted. Thank you to our patrons who have generously donated their time to create these beautiful homemade items for us.
Our Scrapbooking Group meets at our Bruce Johnston Branch on the second Tuesday of the month (with the exception of December when we are having a Christmas Card Making Workshop instead).Vonda (independent advisor with Creative Memories)will be coming on Tuesday, November 11th from 1:00-4:00pm. While Vonda will be bringing a variety of tools for participants to use, we ask that participants bring their own consumable items, such as pictures, albums, cardstock, and decorative paper. *As mentioned in a previous article, our adult programming maybe cancelled if there are fewer than 4 people registered. Our Scrapbooking Group will be on hold in the new year if we do not have enough interest.*
On Tuesday, November 12th, our Coffee & Conversation will be a Lunch & Learn to discuss various forms of accommodations in the area. Residents from the Millbrook Manor and Centennial Place have been invited to chat about their experiences. We will be meeting at our Millbrook Branch from 1:00-3:00pm *Registration is required to ensure that we have enough food for everyone.*
On Tuesday, November 25th, join Bill Slavin (graphic novelist) at our Millbrook Branch at 7:00pm for the launch of his now-completed Mordecai Crow Trilogy. Bill began working on the series in 2007, completed Secrets of Jarrow in 2023 and Quid Pro Crow in 2024. With the release of Blood and Fire in June 2025 the trilogy came to its conclusion, completing the story of the young drifter trapped between two worlds in a post-apocalyptic future.
Bill will be giving a short illustrated talk about the trilogy and sharing some of the history and thought that went into its creation. The entire series is available for purchase at the Millbrook Mercantile in downtown Millbrook and available to borrow at our Millbrook Branch.
We will be welcoming the grade 3s from the Millbrook/South Cavan Public School on Friday, November 21st and Friday, November 28th from 10:00am-12:00pm. The library may be a bit busier than usual, although all library services will still be available.
The Millbrook Branch will be closed on Wednesday, November 19th for staff training. See you on Thurs-day, November 20th! For more information on all our programs and activities, please see our newsletter and social media pages or email Courtneyattutor@cmlibraries.ca.
