Next Farmers’ Market Sunday October 27

Who knew there were more than 1,500 different varieties of eggplants?  At least three kinds were on offer at last Sunday’s market – the large Black Beauty, an elongated Asian/Japanese type and a white fleshed Caspar.  It’s interesting to see all of the unique and unusual produce being grown by some of our vendors.  There were sweet ground cherries in their papery husks, small cucamelons and something called Achocha, a curious pod like cucumber.  I also found fresh bay leaves – perfect for making those delicious fall soups and stews.

Sunday, October 27th is the last market of our regular season with all of our local vendors.  With the harvest occurring later this year, there will still be lots of fresh produce available.  Stock up while you can for the winter months ahead.

And while the regular season is coming to an end, we are working hard to bring you our new Christmas Market on Sunday, November 24.  To date, we have close to 50 vendors signed up.  Stay tuned for more exciting details.
