A eorganization in the Millbrook Library has separated the children and adult areas allowing children to spread out and enjoy a dedicated space while adults peruse their reading opportunities in a more peaceful environment.

Happy New Year!

We would like to thank those who made items for our Christmas Craft Sale in December and those who bought items. We are extremely grateful for the support of our community. This sale has allowed us to purchase Lego for a new program that we will be offering once a month, starting in January.

With the new year comes a revamping of our family programming and the inclusion of more adult programming. We are constantly looking at ways to improve the experiences of those who come to the library and those who take part in our programming. If there is a program that you would like to see in the future, please let us know.

While we will continue to have timed programming, we are also including drop-in activities at our Millbrook and Bruce Johnston Branches. Join us at our Millbrook Branch on Wednesdays from 10:30am-12:00pm for Crafting Corner, a program that will center around creativity and making something amazing out of random craft items. Our Bruce Johnston Branch will be offering Drop in Kids Club from 10:00am-12:00 for those who would like to take part in the activity/craft of the day. We will be posting the activity (for both programs) in our newsletter.

We will continue to offer Saturdays at the Library, although they will now be offered on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Join us at our Millbrook Branch on Saturday, January 11th at 11:00am to make snowflake art and on Saturday, January 25th to make a snowball launcher.

For our Tween/Teen Programming, join us at our Bruce Johnston Branch on Tuesday, January 7th from 4:30-6:30pm to learn how to knit. On Tuesday, January 21st, we will be learning what exactly a bucket list is and how to make one. Participants need to be between the ages of 10-18 and we ask that you pre-register. If there are enough supplies, parents/guardians may also take part.

When it comes to our adult programming, we will now be offering a Scrapbooking Group on the second Tuesday of the month at our Bruce Johnston Branch. You can drop in anytime between 1:00-4:00pm to use the scrapbooking supplies that Vonda (creative memories consultant) will be bringing with her. Vonda will have a 12-inch trimmer for cardstock and decorative paper, photo trimmers, border maker punches, and more. Please bring your own consumable items, such as albums, cardstock, decorative paper, adhesive, and embellishments. Registration will be required to ensure that we have enough space.

We will be continuing to host activities for our Seniors Community Grant in the new year. Rob Hiseler will be joining us at our Millbrook Branch on Wednesday, January 15th from 1:00-3:00pm for a Lunch and Learn about wills and estates. “It is better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it- wills and powers of attorneys!” Lunch will be provided.

We will also be welcoming back Celia Hunter for an Armchair Travel: Between a Rock and a Hard Place. We will be meeting at our Millbrook Branch on Wednesday, January 29th from 1:00-3:00pm to enjoy the beautiful views of France from the comfort of your chair.
