New Works Depict Familiar Neighbourhood Scenes

Renowned artist Yvon Lemieux and his wife Johnanne pictured on the right are joined by Millbrook Gallery Manager Christine McCoulloch and Otonabee Ward Councillor Lesley Parnel during their visit to the community last month.

The Millbrook Gallery hosted Yvon and Johanne Lemieux on December 13, 2018, for a meet and greet.  The sale of some of Yvon’s compelling artwork raised a significant amount last year for Peterborough’s Brock Mission and many of those who came out to see him were familiar with his artwork.  Among the guests were artists, past clients and returning Otonabee Ward Councillor Lesley Parnell.

There is a new series of Lemieux’s work on display at the Millbrook Gallery featuring neighbourhood scenes populated by familiar types- friends and neighbours from our past and present who live down the street.  Among them are scenes from Millbrook village while others depict pastoral views featuring sheep grazing on gently rolling hills reflecting the rural nature of our region and scenes along the St, Lawrence River in Quebec.

Yvon and Johanne feel very much at home when visiting Cavan Monaghan Township due to the warm welcome extended by the community.  The artist is also drawn to the beauty of the area.  During his visit, Yvon took many photos of the area which will be used to inspire new pieces over the coming months.

This year, the artist will reach personal and professional milestones as he celebrates 50 years as an artist as well as his 70th birthday.

Drop into the Millbrook Gallery to see Lemieux’s interpretation of local scenes, or visit www.millbrookgallery.com.  The Cavan Monaghan Township has three beautiful art galleries with many events and activities lined up for 2019.  All collections can be reviewed on line by visiting www.galerie-q.com , www.cavan-arts.com , www.millbrookgallery.com.  KG
