New Mechanic Sets up Shop in Vacated Garage

Bill Clarke welcomes Matt Howard who is setting up shop in the garage on Tupper Street.

Matt Howard is moving his Mobile Auto Service indoors, taking over the space at the garage on Tupper Street recently vacated by Mike Clarke’s Clarke’s Service Centre.

For 15 years Matt has worked as a mechanic, in dealerships and garages in the Newcastle area.  Two years ago, he went out on his own, skipping the overhead and finding a niche bringing his skills to his customers.  He offers a mobile service, working on customers’ vehicles at their homes, and for more elaborate jobs, he has brought their cars to his home.  This ensures customers are not inconvenienced by having the parts of their vehicles spread across their driveway as it is repaired.

In a sense, that’s how Matt started – with parts strewn across his driveway.  At the age of 12, his snowmobile broke down and to save money, he decided to try to fix it himself.  His father, who is not mechanically inclined, came home to see the vehicle in pieces, but soon it was back together and operating.  A career was launched.

Matt is a licensed and insured automotive technician who specializes in vehicle diagnostics, but he also offers an extensive list of services from inspections, engine, electrical and air conditioning repairs, brake, steering and suspension repairs.

The catchy tag-line “We service your car wherever you are” will still hold true, but with access to a fully-equipped garage, Matt will be able to perform more complex work under shelter.

If you’re having car trouble, call Matt at 705-932-3663, or on his cell, 905-440-0001.  KG
