Last month, the Millbrook & Cavan Historical Society welcomed the public into the new Local History & Archives Centre for the first time, as part of the municipality’s Open House at the Old Millbrook School, celebrating the renovation and preservation work undertaken with the support of provincial and federal funding.
MCHS is now leasing one of the upstairs classroom in this historic building from the township, and has moved the archives and established detailed exhibits and display units to showcase part of their extensive collection of documents and artifacts from our history. The room will be open on Wednesday afternoons from 2 to 4pm or by appointment for people seeking to learn about local history, research events, discuss donations of family histories and memorabilia, or use the library’s Ancestry program to trace family histories. It also provides a space for small group discussions and projects.
