Megan Deeth offers an assortment of delicious baked goods.

Like many youngsters, Megan Deeth began developing her baking skills on weekends helping her Mom bake anything and everything- from basic banana bread to more elaborate cakes and pies.  Her fascination with the magic of whisking, mixing and folding ingredients together to create delicious treats motivated her to complete the highly competitive Baking and Pastry Arts Management program at George Brown College which she did in 2015.

After her training, she worked at a few bakeries to get some commercial experience.  In the meantime, she flexed her creative muscle baking special goodies for family and friends, who appreciated her creations.  A website set up in 2018 formalized her budding business, and now she works full time creating treats under the name the Magic Oven Bakery at her home in Port Hope.

Her product list is extensive, from cookies, squares, cakes and pies, and can be found on her website at www.magicovernbakery.com.  Many of the items are gluten free and vegan for those with preferences and sensitivities, and these are listed on a gluten free/vegan page.  Among the most popular items are her custom cakes, which are beautiful as well as delicious.  These require some advance notice, particularly during holiday periods.

At the market, customers are eager to pick up some doughnuts which are always limited in supply as they are baked the morning they are sold.  Another favourite is the Cherry Cheesecake, which is a vegan product.

There is no store front but products can be picked up in Port Hope or delivered anywhere in the Peterborough or Northumberland County as well as throughout the Durham Region.  For local consumers, Megan brings a wide assortment of her goods to the Millbrook Farmers’ Market, but if it’s doughnut’s you’re after, get there early- they disappear fast!  KG
