The fish were biting on Saturday morning at the ever popular Annual Fishing Derby.
The Millbrook Fishing Derby was a resounding success, with over 250 young anglers casting their lines into the Millbrook Pond.
Anglers were rewarded for their efforts as well, with reports of more 100 fish caught throughout the morning. The rain held off for a while but there was a chill in the air that seemed to dampen the hunger of the 256 Brook trout that had been added to the pond the week before.
Congratulations to Shianne Ward, who caught a 14-inch Brook Trout, ‘Jack Reacher,’ and won a gift card and fishing pole. Camden Curry caught another tagged fish on Sunday.

The fun continues throughout the week, with kids able to collect prizes for catching tagged fish until Friday at 5pm. To receive a prize for your catch, send a photo of the tag to Trout Unlimited Millbrook through Facebook. Millie is still out there, after all.
A big thank you to the Millbrook Lions who have helped to deliver this wonderful event for more than twenty years, as well as the Millbrook Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Nexicom provided financial support for the event while Bass Pro Shops donated hats for all of the young anglers. Support was also provided by the Cavan Monaghan Fire Department, the Millbrook BIA, Baxter Creek Watershed Alliance, ORCA, and the Township of Cavan Monaghan.
Thank you Millbrook for always showing up (even when and rains) and making this event a great success. See you next year! KG
