Last month, Millbrook Minor Hockey hosted their annual Winter Classic Tournament featuring U15 and U18 teams from across the region.  One of the most popular features of this three day event is the Shoot and Save skills competition where teams face off to show their stuff on Saturday afternoon.

Millbrook fielded three teams in each age category: two house league and one rep. The U15 Green house league team kept the local supporters on the edge of their seats, taking top spot in their division.  The contest was fierce, with Millbrook and Kanata holding each other to three goals apiece through regulation as well as an overtime period.  Millbrook finally took the game in a shoot-out, winning 4 to 3.

In addition to celebrating their work and talent of the senior teams in their club, Minor Hockey used the opportunity to support our local foodbank.  In a drive to collect food and cash donations during the weekend they called “Shut out Hunger”, the club collected 312 food items and $82 in cash donations to replenish supplies at the Millbrook Foodshare.  Sounds like a successful weekend on many fronts!  KG
