Millbrook Minor Hockey to Manage CMCC Concession Booth

Millbrook and District Minor Hockey Association was the only bid received to a tender seeking operators for the concession booth at the CMCC, and the terms have been established.

In their proposal, the organization explained that staffing for the outlet will consist of volunteers from their association who would all receive the requisite training to be sure the operation complies with all applicable regulations, including those addressing food safety.

The concession will begin with a smaller product offering to allow the operators to get a better understand their market, with plans to ramp up their menu based on demand and profit opportunities.  Once fully operational, they intend to operate from Monday to Friday 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and from 7 am to 7 pm on holidays and weekends.

The financial model for the contract is based on profit sharing, where Millbrook and District Minor Hockey Association pays 50% of all profits generated through Concession Booth sales directly to the Township. Complete financial documentation will be provided to support the calculation of that payment.   In addition, in recognition of the deficit in achieving their fundraising commitment towards the construction of the CMCC, they will dedicate an additional 25% of their share of the profits towards that goal, with payments made quarterly.

According to Brian Field, Treasurer of the hockey association, the group is excited about the concession opportunity while recognizing it will present an additional task to their already stretched volunteers.  He hopes that profit from the operation will supplement existing fundraising initiatives designed to help keep hockey affordable for the families in our community, and help the association get back on track with some of their priorities that have been impacted by the pandemic.
