Millbrook Minor Hockey Hosts 6th Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser

After a two-year hiatus, the Millbrook and District Minor Hockey Association is bringing back their annual fundraising golf tournament.  The event takes place on September 18th at Keystone Links Golf & Country Club in Cavan and features 18 holes of golf, sponsored holes, prizes, auction, lunch and more.

Growth in hockey enrollment is rising as more young families move into the area.  The cost of participating in this sport has always presented a challenge to some families, and the local organization have always been there to help.  They never want a child to be unable to play because of cost, so each year they allocate funds to provide financial support to some players.  This year, the need for support has increased, so the club is hoping to boost its financial assistance program.

In addition to providing support for individuals, fundraising activities also heavily subsidize the cost of a fourteen week hockey skills development program. Canadian Hockey Enterprise provides the coaching for this development program.  Fundraising also helps reduce the cost of team jerseys to ease the sting of these expensive items on family budgets.   It also offsets some of the costs of referees.  The game fees and mileage for these officials has risen significantly over the past few years, and Millbrook Minor Hockey finds they must pay at the high end of the scale to ensure all games have officials.

So pack your (golf) bags and hit the Keystone Links, joining other minor hockey supporters in the community to help our youngsters work on their skills, play hard and help bring an All-Ontario banner to the Cavan Monaghan Community Centre.  For more information, see notice on p 11 or email fundraising@millbrookhockey.com .
