Millbrook Hockey Teams Light it up In Fort Erie Tournament

What a weekend for two Millbrook Stars teams in Fort Erie!!  

The U18 rep Millbrook Stars and the U15 rep Millbrook Stars teams both had successful ends to the Greater Fort Erie Winter Challenge Tournament on January 5 to 7th January 7 as they both walked away as tournament champions.  After playing in the round robin, both teams went into the final game in second place having already lost losing to the first place team in the round robin.

 U15 rep were set to play the Wallaceburg Lakers, after losing to them with a score of 0-3 on Friday January 5th. Ben Simpson opened up the scoring in the 1st period to take the team to 1-0.   Later in the 1st period, Wallaceburg Lakers came back to tie it up 1-1.   Deep into the second period, Isaac Parnel,l on a shot from Jack Nichols, tipped it into the net to bring the game to 2-1.  That goal ended up being the game winning goal.   Millbrook held off the other team from scoring again, relying heavily on the efforts of goaltender Dylan McAnerin who on his 14th birthday had the save of the weekend when he faced two defenders and saved the shot  The final scored remained at 2-1.   The bench staff were proud of the whole team at the tournament and their success, and each player deserves a big congratulation.   They are looking forward to a successful remaining season.

This was the second year in a row that the U18 rep Millbrook Stars won this tournament, with 7 returning players. Coming into the final game of the round robin undefeated, Millbrook lost to local rivals Orono 4-1.  Based on points, Millbrook advanced to the championship game, which was set to be a rematch between Millbrook and Orono.  The whole team played a fantastic final game.  Carson Nottingham earned a hat trick, Haiden Woodward got the goal that secured the win for the team.  Throughout the whole tournament, the goalies Aden Bons and Caleb Lain were outstanding between the posts.  What a memorable moment to have both teams celebrating together!!!
