Millbrook & Area Garden Club’s October Meeting

With the copious spring and summer’s rains all kinds of interesting fungi have appeared in area gardens and woodlands. Come and learn more about this often overlooked fantastic world from Irka Dyczok who is passionate and knowledgeable on this subject on Wednesday October 6th, 2017 at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 16 Centre Street in Millbrook starting at 7:30 pm.

As a resident of the Northumberland Hills, Irka Dyczok, a professional Interior Designer, is inspired by Mother Nature’s bounty and ever-changing world. The inconceivable beauty and diversity of fungi are a source of endless fascination. She has photographed over 400 species and has pursued an education into the world of mycology. This has led to a reverence and respect for the important role that fungi play in the relationship to the forest. Her presentation will focus on Ganaraska Magic.  Come autumn, the forests in our region begin to explode with fungi in all colours, sizes and shapes. This eye-opening introduction to the fungal kingdom will start with a discussion about a wide assortment of mushrooms and other fungi. We will then take a virtual walk through the woods, seeking and discovering the magic of the Ganaraska Forest.
