Midget Rep – Year End Wrap Up

It was a season of ups and downs for the DT Power Sports and Marine Midget Rep team.  With a full team this season the Coaching staff and players had high hopes for their season.  It was a rough start, but by their 2nd tournament in Parry Sound the team had found their grove and made it to the semi-finals playing against teams from much larger centres, missing a trip to the championship game by a single goal.

OMHA playdowns were short, but not without the boys putting up a great fight, taking last year’s OMHA champs to two overtime games.

The Midget Rep team competed this past weekend in the Cross Border Clash Rep tournament!  Losing their 1st game Friday night, then weren’t discouraged.  Game 2 on Saturday was a tie, followed by a resounding 7-2 win Saturday afternoon.  This put them into the B championship final at 8:30 am on Sunday morning.  Despite the early start the boys were ready for the challenge and won the game 5-1.  It was a great way to end their season on a positive note.  The team even took Coach Roland out to Rhinos in Bewdley for breakfast as a thank you for the time he spent with them this season.

This is the last year of coaching for MDMHA president Roland Greber.  His son graduated from minor hockey 3 years ago, but his passion for the game and devotion to Millbrook Minor hockey has kept him involved.  If he wasn’t moving away this summer, I’m sure he’d be involved for years to come.  He had a great group of kids and parents to work with in his final season and will be forever grateful for the time he spent coaching and volunteering through the years.

Finally, the Midget Rep team would like to wish the Peewee Rep team good luck on Friday March 29th when they face Shallow Lake in the OMHA championship final.  Let’s close out this final season at the old rink with a Red cap championship win!!!  GO STARS GO!!!
