March Events at our Libraries

Do you know more words than Karla Buckborough, the Libraries CEO?   Come challenge her to a game of Scrabble on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 2pm.

March brings forth MARCH BREAK! The Cavan Monaghan Libraries is excited to offer a fairly full week of activities for the children and youth in our community!

On the PA Day, March 10, 2017 Millbrook Branch will offer Storytime at 10 am, AND feature the “TROLLS” movie in the afternoon at 1:45 pm

Cavan Monaghan Libraries is also offering a new program called “At Home Readiness”, which is a beginner’s class for young people entering the stage of being able to stay home alone, or beginning to babysit. It is appropriate for children beginning independence at home but also driven to the pre-teen age group, targeting children ages 7-12. There will be discussion on home safety planning, kitchen rules, and dos and don’ts while using appliances, as well as recipes to take home from the items made in the class.

This introduction class has being designed to begin conversation at home and build confidence as our young people start to care for themselves or others while their parents are not home. We hope to open conversation and help our young people feel safe as they begin this stage in their lives. We also want to get our young people’s feedback to see if there is a need for more information or classes needed in the future. It will be a great chance for open dialogue while sharing a snack together

Cooking Class on Tuesday at Bruce Johnston Branch (BJB) and Wednesday in Millbrook (MB) at 10:30 am until 12 noon. We will talk about “at home safety” and prepare snacks and a meal to sample. There will be LEGO and games available for use following the scheduled programming.

Regular Storytimes will continue throughout March Break and the entire month of March.

For the adults, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 3:30 pm and 6:30 pm at the Bruch Johnston Branch (BJB) , and Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 3:30pm in Millbrook, there is “Crafts with Judi” making Shamrock Pins and Leprechaun Bags.
