Manvers Historical Society to Host Seedy Saturday

A seed exchange event will be held on April 10th at the Old Post Office in Bethany, running from 1 to 4 pm.

Seeds are being collected from local gardeners and to date they have collected 64 varieties of seeds, including a wide range of flowers and vegetables.  The call is still out for donations of Citron seeds.  Donations can be slipped through the mail slot at the Old Post Office along with the donors’ name and contact information, the name of the seeds, planting instructions, bloom time and preferred plant location.  The seeds are being repackaged and will cost $1.00 per packet or buy ten packets and get another one for free.  Seed donors will be allowed five free seed packets. The list of available seeds are published on the organization’s Facebook page and the Manvers Historical Society website, www.manvershistory.ca.

There will be a kid’s package for $1.00, choice of sunflower seeds, pumpkin or squash, orders only.  In September there will be a contest for the largest pumpkin and the tallest sunflower with prizes for the winners.

To reserve your selections, contact Kathy Morton at 705-277-2636 or by email at kmorton131@gmail.com.   Seeds may also be selected in person on Saturday, April 10th when the packets will be available for pick up.  Happy planting!
