Frances Ford who lives just above Cavan Monaghan’s northern boundary, ran her third Boston Marathon race last month, joining the record 36,000+ entrants in this the world’s oldest annual marathon. The field was much larger than usual due to the relaxation of qualifying requirements this year. This allowed space for the many thousands of participants who last year were unable to complete their race because of the tragic events near the finish line. Security was much tighter and the atmosphere more emotionally charged than usual, with the sentiment of solidarity captured in the tag line this year, “We all run Boston.”
