On Sunday January 7th, MDMHA hosted the 2018 Victoria Durham Midget All-Star game. Each of the 8 participating Rep centers in the Victoria Durham loop were asked to send their top 4 players to participate in this year’s game. They were also asked to nominate the top goalie from their group. The 4 teams that made up the North Division team were: Brock Wild; Mariposa Lightening; Sturgeon Lake Thunder and Woodville Hurricanes. The 4 making up the South Division team were Kawartha Coyotes, Orono Leafs, Newcastle Stars and of course our own Millbrook Stars. Representing the DT Power Sports Midget Rep team for Millbrook were: Carson Booth, Kolby Scott, Sebastien Hamel, Fergus Winn and on the bench as Trainer, Roland Greber. There were a few players from the North Team unable to make it and 2 more Millbrook Stars were able to play, they were Alexander Proulx and in net Ethan Buck. The arena was packed to the rafters with parents and teammates, but also a number of young fans and members from other MDMHA teams all out to support these boys. The admission to the game was free, but fans were encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the local foodbank. Four full bins of food and $66.50 in donations were collected and will be donated to our local foodbank. Fans were very happy to watch such a fast paced, closely matched game.

A few comments indicated it was one of the best Midget hockey games they had seen. After the 1st period South was leading 2-1. North made a comeback in the 2nd and the score was 3 – 2 for North heading into the 3rd period. The South team had a strong 3rd and ended up winning 6-4. On the game sheet for Millbrook were Carson and Kolby with goals and Fergus with an assist. Great job boys!!! We would also like to thank all those that volunteered their time to make this event a success, especially MDMHA OHMA Rep John MacDonald who spearheaded and organized this year’s game!  Also thanks to DT Power Sports for their sponsorship of this event and their support of Millbrook Minor Hockey.
