Alex Leroy has been running a property maintenance business for several years now.
He had been in the business a few years ago, and then picked it up again during Covid when a commercial property owner asked him to take on the responsibility of maintaining the landscape around his business. With a small crew, he services commercial and residential customers from Durham Region to Peterborough, providing lawn cutting, garden clean up and renovation and is based in Millbrook.
Business has been steadily growing for Leroy Maintenance and Alex believes that this is because property owners are now more particular about the appearance of their yards. He saw this trend pick up during Covid as people began to spend more time at home. An aging population remaining in their homes longer also provides a growing market for his services.
Most of his lawn maintenance customers sign up for a season. They choose to pay by the cut or by the month. In either case, Alex prefers they leave the timing of the lawn cutting to him. He visits the property each week to decide if it needs attention, and will delay cutting grass until it is required. The larger problem is waiting too long, as cutting grass that has become too tall or thick is hard on his equipment. He can handle larger lawn areas as he has a 54” zero-turn mower. His cutting service always includes trimming and blowing grass clippings off hard surfaces so the property looks tidy when he is finished.
During the winter month she provides commercial cleaning services. With WSIB and liability insurance, he is able to bid on small government contracts which keep him busy during the winter months.
