On Wednesday June 3rd, the Millbrook and District Lions Club hosted a tribute to the Health Care Workers at Centennial Place thanking them for working through these difficult times.  If you have driven by Centennial Place recently you cannot help but see the signs of encouragement and thanks that adorn the perimeter of the facility.  A big thanks to the students of South Cavan School who put this together as a show of community support.

Because of social distancing, we were not able to show our support in the numbers we would have liked.  A table was set outside the main entrance and at 11am, Bewdley Pizza arrived with their contribution.  The owner, Gerard “Frenchie” Desrochers, had agreed to deliver his product for all three shifts that day.

Lions District Governor Susan Taylor spoke to the staff on hand at the local facility, outlining the Lions International Contribution to Long Term Care Facilities and workers during the pandemic.  Lion Paul Hayne spoke about the close relationship with Millbrook Lions and volunteerism with Centennial Place over the years and our continuing partnership.  Centennial Place Administrator Debbie Look explained how important it was to have volunteers and thanked us for our work making the Staff feel appreciated by the community.   Centennial Place Life Enrichment Coordinator Hannah Peart accepted gifts for the employees which included a case of hand sanitizers from Millbrook Home Hardware, a box of dental hygiene products from Millbrook Dental and three lovely fruit baskets supplied by Millbrook Foodland.
