Last month the Millbrook and District Lions’ Club resurrected their monthly breakfast in a COVID-friendly way, offering drive-through service of peameal bacon on a bun. Demand exceeded their expectations, prompting a return visit to Foodland to replenish supplies. They served 173 adults and five children, enabling them to make a donation of $700 to the Millbrook EarlyON Family Centre. Pictured are Lions’ Club member John French with EarlyON Centre Administrator, Nancy Hurley, and board member, John French, with Stella. The event was so popular, the club decided to host another one on July 11th from 8:30 to 11 am, with proceeds to be donated to Millbrook Community Care.
The event also included a raffle made possible by donations from local businesses. The winners included Albert Munneke, of Cavan, who won a BBQ donated by Millbrook Home Hardware; Ken Fines, of Millbrook, who won outdoor furniture donated by Brooke Taylor; and David Preston, of Millbrook, who won $500 of French’s Beef donated by John and Susan French. Sounds like everybody won! KG
