One busy Friday evening at the end of June, I found myself on County Rd. 28 near Stewart Line with a flat tire. Fortunately I was able to pull off onto Stewart Line to get out of the way of traffic. Never having owned a cell phone or changed a tire, I felt quite vulnerable, but seeing patrons at the dog park across the road at the veterinary clinic made me realize help would be found. Before I could approach anyone, a kind gentleman began to knock on my window. He was soon followed by two good Samaritans. They changed my tire and refused any compensation for their act of kindness, saying they were glad to help. As if this wasn’t enough, one of them travelling with his wife and pet offered to follow me to the local gas station to help inflate the newly-mounted tire and continued to follow me to make sure I arrived home safely, which I did.
This experience provided reminded me of how grateful I am to live in this wonderful community, where the kindness of strangers is still offered and accepted. Thank you to these three kind gentlemen whose exceptional gesture to an elderly lady in need was very much appreciated.
