Letter to the Editor

On June 1, 2020, Kurt and I heard the news that no parent would ever want to hear.  Our son Kieran Osborne has Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. We had many people asking about his condition as he was in the Hospital for 14 days prior with a fever. We thought that the best way to let everyone know his diagnosis would be through social media.  The outpouring of support was unlike anything we had imagined.  Millbrook Minor Hockey Association, the Lemonade stand, The Canadian Armed Forces, Hydro One, Cavan Monaghan Firefighter Association, Westmore Poleline & Electric, our Millbrook hockey parents and our dearest friends. I know we have missed mentioning many but we wanted to let you all know that we truly appreciate your support, generosity and heartfelt love. This amount of support is something that we have a hard time putting into words.

On June 17th, Kieran celebrated his 12th Birthday in a way that no child could ever imagine. Not only was he restricted by COVID that had eliminated the possibility that he could have a traditional Birthday, he was in the midst of Chemotherapy.  His good friends and family took it upon themselves to coordinate a Birthday drive-by.  With what looked like the whole town of Millbrook and surrounding areas, there was a lineup of cars and children that took the time out of their day to come and make it the most memorable birthday ever. For that we are forever thankful.

Kurt, Mikayla, myself and especially Kieran want to thank everyone near and far for their support and unfathomable generosity towards a child and family that had their world turned upside down in what was already an upside down year..

Sincere Love and Thanks to you all,

The Osborne’s
