Lemonade Stand-off with Police!

In the beginning, four young partners planned to use the lemonade stand to make some money and support the hospital.  In their first week, half of their revenue ($53) was directed to the PRHC Covid fund. Upon learning of the cancer diagnosis of two Millbrook South Cavan boys, the recipients of the operation’s charitable giving became Go Fund Me vehicles established by the Minor Hockey organization on behalf of the boys.  The young entrepreneurs were very pleased to be able to help their fellow students, but they know they didn’t do it alone.

The lemonade stand allowed the community to support these patients and their families and customers routinely dropped $20, $50 and even $100 into the cash box for their refreshments.  Some even came knocking on the door when the operation was closed. Donations from friends, neighbours, teachers, and groups including Hydro One Workers, the Artillery Division of the Canadian Armed Forces and the local police allowed the youngsters to contribute $2065 to the patients’ families. The lemonade stand has provided an amazing experience all involved, and demonstrated how members of a community can rally to support each other.  The lemonade stand is temporarily operating as a pop-up enterprise on Cavan Street and will likely make appearances at future community events.  Perhaps hot chocolate during Christmas in the Village?
