Legion News Update

Hello from our construction site in downtown Millbrook! We will have a beautiful street when completed. Life goes on at the Legion. We are always available for hall rentals.

Come in and check us out. You might be surprised at what we look like inside. We have new chairs for the hall. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Township of Cavan Monaghan for the $2500.00 grant they provided which, along with the money raised through our winter darts program, helped to buy these chairs. Thank you, we very much appreciate your support.

Our patio is ready for people to enjoy. We have the gardens planted, making it a relaxing place to sit with friends and visit.

What a great day we had for our annual Bike Run to Wilberforce. There were 41 bikes this year. We keep growing every year. We traveled to Wilberforce Legion for a BBQ and then returned to Millbrook Legion for a dinner. The Ladies Auxiliary supplied the meal. This is our third year for holding this event. All proceeds go to the Wounded Warriors of Canada. Please come out and support us and the Wounded Warriors. Looking forward to next year’s run. Thanks to all who participated in the Run.

The Legion would like to thank the businesses for their donations to the Bike Run. Millbrook Pharmacy, Bear Essentials, Oasis Tans, Home Hardware, Todd Equipment, Longley Harley Davidson, Durham Regional Police Association , Calhoun’s Foodland, Nexicom, Paul Gilmour, ISN, Doughty Aggregates Molsons, Labbatt,s and Corbey’s Distillery.

During the Millbrook Fair on June 9,10,11,12, our legion will be holding a Fish Fry in the afternoon with live entertainment provided by Bullet Proof.

Canada Day we will be holding a BBQ, Birthday Cake and a Silent Auction from 2:00 to 6:00. Everyone is welcome to celebrate with us. Then on July 2, the car show comes to town. We will be serving breakfast and lunch at the Legion.

Our Pub Friday will be on July 8 from 5 to 7pm. After the dinner you are welcome to join us for Euchre upstairs in the club room.

We are getting together with the Millbrook Lions and the Firefighters Association for a fund raiser to help the victims of Fort McMurray. We hold our first meeting with these groups June 8. Looking forward to an exciting fundraiser. We will keep you posted on what the events are going to be.
