Last Market October 22

It’s hard to believe that we’re down to our last regular market of the year.  While we were off to a cold and rainy start this year, the recent heat wave has happily extended our local growing season, giving our corn, tomatoes, peppers and squash an added boost.  With the harvest well underway, now is the time to stock those larders and freezers with fresh local produce to enjoy throughout the long winter months.

Our last regular market of the year will take place on Sunday, October 22nd, 10:00am to 1:00pm at the Old Millbrook School parking lot, 1 Dufferin Street, rain or shine (or snow!).  Almost all of the products on sale at the Millbrook Farmers’ Market are produced locally.  We do not have resellers selling produce that comes from the food terminal.  The vendors you meet at our market are, by and large, the farmers, growers, bakers and craftspersons who produce these goods themselves.  Collectively, they have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with you.

On October 22nd, local band Relic’s Boat will be back performing everyone’s favourite folk songs.  A big thank you goes out to Rob Hiseler of McGillen Keay Cooper for sponsoring October’s entertainment.  Local Township Councillor Jordan Landry will be the featured guest reader at the StoryTree for Kids event starting at 11:00am, while the Millbrook Library will once again host their absolutely-something-for-everyone book sale.

A heads up about two upcoming market-related events – there will be a Give a Hoot Fundraising Concert in November with proceeds going to support next year’s market musicians.  Planning is also underway for a Christmas Farmers’ Market in December.  Stay tuned for more details.

Finally, a huge thank you to all of our wonderful vendors, volunteers, shoppers, sponsors and other supporters for making this another great year at the Millbrook Farmers’ Market.
