Last Farmers’ Market Sunday October 28

Fall weather brought the patrons out for last week’s Millbrook Farmers’ Market.

It’s hard to believe that I’m writing about the last farmers’ market of the season yet here we are.  You’ve got one last chance to take in the festivities before we close the barn door.  Our last market will be on Sunday, October 28, 10:00am to 1:00pm in the parking lot of the Old Millbrook School.

There’s still time to pick up and enjoy this season’s abundant and delicious bounty.  If you stock up your larders now, you can keep on enjoying the fruits of the harvest all winter long.  And we all know how long that can be.  If you’re not into canning or making preserves yourself, freezing is an easy, simple way to store the summer’s freshness and flavours.  You can also just pick up some superb ready-made preserves.

If you’re someone who likes to start their holiday shopping early, we have a few local craftspersons selling some very unique and beautiful one-of-a kind items that would make lovely gifts.  And you can brag that they were made right here in our community.

Of course there will be lots and lots of pumpkins for all of you pie makers and carving aficionados out there.  Just in time for Halloween.

With another season coming to a close, I would like to thank all of our wonderful vendors.  At every market, I meet new shoppers and out-of-town visitors who tell me they are amazed at the quality and quantity of foods produced in our small community.  We are so fortunate to have them.

On behalf of everyone, I would also like to thank the local businesses for sponsoring our lineup of musicians who play and sing their hearts out at each market – Anita Law Professional Corporation, Kathie Lycett, REMAX Eastern Realty, Alex Penello & Associates and Dr. Larry Smith, Cavan Chiropractor.  Thank you also to the Millbrook Times for featuring our vendors in these pages.

We’ll be back in April.  See you then.
