Come hungry next month to the Millbrook Farmers’ Market where you can dine on brunch items prepared before your eyes by one of the new vendors, Kitchen Farmacy. Working the grill is Red Seal Chef Josh Keepfer working his magic and he prepares traditional Canadian brunch offerings with a European flair relying on local seasonal ingredients.

This vendor works alongside his local suppliers, at the Peterborough, Lakefield and Millbrook Farmers’ markets, showcasing their goods in fresh, current brunch menus.  The family recently relocated to Peterborough from Whistler, BC where Josh was a Chef at a lodge where the menu changed daily based on the produce available in the garden on site.  This farm to table approach to food is ingrained in this chef, who began his cooking career in Somerset and has worked in this style of restaurant in France, Italy and the U.S. The arrival of daughter Hadley was the impetus for Josh and his wife Chas to move to Peterborough to be closer to Chas’ family.

Meat lovers should come hungry next month when this chef will be showcasing local ingredients including pork from Pinewynd farm, as well as local beef and trout farm prepared on his custom made, 12 foot smoker.  If you can’t wait until then, he is a fixture at the weekly Farmers’ Market in Peterborough.  KG
