It was perhaps 10 years ago that Bill Vanderpluym started coming to the Millbrook Arena for the Free-Skate sessions and found that, more often than not, he skated alone. At about the same time, Arlene Deck, then living on County Road 21, got the idea to develop a simple set of exercises to both appeal to former figure skaters like herself and satisfy the needs recreational skaters. And so the Millbillies were born.
