“Journeys Outreach” Supports Young People

“Journeys” is the outreach and social advocacy group of St Thomas’ Anglican Church, Millbrook.   After a pause in activities during Covid-19 lockdowns, the outreach group began meeting again via Zoom in April.   Journeys has now completed two fundraisers, one of which was for Zippaport — a non-profit organization that creates “port shirts” for children and teenagers who have a permanent  injection “port” site on their chest for on-going chemotherapy.   The zipper openings of the stylish port shirts allow the intravenous therapy to take place without forcing the young person to endure the indignity and stress of undressing for the procedure.  Pictured in the photo is Julie Middleton  (founder and driving force of Zippaport), her daughter Sadie (a beneficiary of Zippaport), and Debbie Worr (treasurer of St Thomas’ Journeys Outreach).   Debbie is presenting a cheque for just over $1000 to assist Zippaport in its work.   Parishioners and friends of St Thomas’ Anglican Church supported this outreach. Thank you to everyone for your support!   More information on Zippaport can be found at: www.zippaport.ca.
