Millbrook Foodland owner Josh Helm earned a County Recognition Award last month.
On Thursday May14th Otonabee South Monaghan hosted the Peterborough County Community Recognition Awards.
That evening, Josh Helm of Millbrook Foodland was awarded the Business Leadership Award.
Josh was nominated by Millbrook resident Glenn Spurrell, who wrote: “A grocery store is often the anchor of a community, and this is especially true in Millbrook and the Township of Cavan Monaghan. While the community is fortunate to have a Foodland, it is even more fortunate to have Josh Helm as its franchise owner and manager. Josh purchased the Millbrook Foodland franchise in June 2019, becoming the youngest franchisee at the time. Since then, he has taken an already successful business and elevated it through strong leadership, dedication, and a genuine commitment to people.
Josh is known as an energetic, hard-working, and approachable leader who is highly respected by both staff and customers. He fosters a positive, safe, and motivating work environment where employees feel proud of what they do. His commitment to the community is equally impressive. Josh works closely with the local Food Share through the Second Harvest program, donating best-before meat and baked goods weekly, reducing food waste while supporting families in need. He has also enabled Food Share to operate a dedicated freezer on site, hosts regular donation drives, and volunteers at community barbecues alongside his staff.
In 2024, Josh received Foodland’s national Impact Award, recognizing his outstanding leadership, community engagement, and operational excellence.
Thank you, Josh, for all you do for our community!
