Join the Library as it Celebrates 125 Years

2019 marks the 125th anniversary of the Cavan Monaghan Libraries’ Millbrook Branch.

Things have changed quite markedly for the library from its humble start October 1st, 1984 as a Mechanics Institute, to our 2 bustling branches that cater to our diverse and growing patronage. We invite you to join us for an Anniversary Tea complete with light refreshments held at the Millbrook Branch on Saturday, October 26th from 11:00am – 1:00pm. Pop in, grab a cuppa and share a favourite memory of the library (who remembers the cramped quarters on the main street decades ago?) or what the library means to you and your family. Our fete falls at the end of Public Library Week (October 20th – 26th), which is a wonderful way to top off a whole week dedicated to the valuable role that libraries play across Canada, and more specifically in our wonderful community.

What better way to celebrate harvest time than with community and freshly picked produce. The Old Millbrook School EarlyON Centre, The Millbrook Farmers Market and the CMLibraries are partnering together to offer a wonderful harvest time program on Wednesday, October 2nd from 2:30pm – 4:30pm. We will be offering a story circle, dramatic play center, hands-on crafts and activities, plus make your own mini apple hand pie, all hosted in the welcoming EarlyON space. This is a wonderful opportunity to think about where our food comes from, who grows our food, and share wonderful autumn memories. Please call 705-932-7088 or email omsfc@nexicom.net for more information or to register.

As always the library has a wide selection of programs to foster community, build skills, and encourage lifelong learning. For more details on our programs, or access to our online calendar and E-newsletter visit our website www.cavanmonaghanlibraries.ca, or drop in to your local branch and pick up a printed copy. Questions, comments, and suggestions can be sent to Melanie at outreach@cmlibraries.ca.
