In-person Programming Resumes at the CM Libraries!

The Cavan-Monaghan Libraries is continuing to adjust to the “next normal”. Masks are now optional but highly recommended in the Library spaces.

The next normal sees the resumption of in-person activities. We are excited to welcome back Community Threads and Storytime as well as our first Tuesday Toonie Movie Night of 2022 (limiting to 18 seats for now).

In April, Storytime on Thursdays and Fridays will expand to include the usual story time with andbooks and literacy, and then a time for looking at plants and nature and wraps up with “outdoor recess” – a fun time for the little’s to play outside.

Community Threads will meet on Saturday, April 9th (11-1) at the Bruce Johnston Branch and Wednesday, April 13th (11-1) at the Millbrook Branch. The focus this month will be on “Fidget Cuffs” – these are small projects that are knitted, crocheted or sewn and can be used by anyone with “restless fingers”. Completed Fidget Cuffs will be collected at the CM Libraries and donated to appropriate agencies.

We are still accepting responses to the library survey about programming: what would you like to see happening at your library? Requests so far have included book clubs, cake decorating demonstrations, cooking with kids… Find the link at cmlibraries.ca website and add your ideas.

Reading Buddies at the CM Libraries – our 6-week literacy support initiative in February/March was very popular. We are looking for volunteers of all ages who would be interested in this project – you would be matched with a school-aged child who needs some extra help in their literacy skills. Training will be provided. The time requirement could vary from as little as 1 hour per week to several hours. Volunteers could be teens needing 40 hours for their community service requirement, adults and seniors who like to work with children. Please fill in the Reading Buddies Volunteer form on the cmlibraries.ca website.
