The operators of this popular bar located at 6725 Highway 7 (aka County Rd. 28) in Springville have taken over the space occupied for many years by Chinese Food restaurant the Golden Wheel and transformed the space into a warm, welcoming restaurant and bar.
In the fall of 2024, Ormie Francis took over the rear of the restaurant building, opening a bar called Honky Tonk Angel with the help of Ann Nelson, Lindsey Landry and Kelley Sargent. Until recently the bar opened in the evening on Thursday through Saturday with line-dancing, live music and special events featuring live local bands including Steve Waters Band.
Honky Tonk Angel now operates as a full-service restaurant open seven days a week, with the bar continuing to operate in the back area of the restaurant. They serve breakfast Thursday through Sunday offering avocado toast, pancakes and eggs benedict and other morning favourites. The menu switches for lunch and dinner with a pub-style offerings including wings, burgers, fish and chips, menu until 9 pm on Monday through Wednesday, until 10 pm on Thursday and Friday and 5pm on Sunday.
The energetic owner and staff also host special events featuring live local music on weekends, most of which as the name suggests, have a country vibe. With their expanded hours and broader focus, they are also hosting family-friendly events such as the Taylor-Swift themed Karaoke event last month. The venue is also available to book for private events.
Drop in to see the big changes at this venue that has offered food and entertainment for many years and sit down to some country fare.
