Historical Society Welcomes Additions

Archivist Kim McLeod manages the Historical Society collection
at the Old Millbrook School.

The record of activities and achievements made by the families that trace their roots back to Cavan Monaghan continues to grow as the Millbrook Cavan Historical Society’s archivist, Kim McLeod, catalogues and stores donated materials at the Old Millbrook School. Recent additions include family histories from both Ivor and Joan Banks, as well as memorabilia donated by Lynda McFadden, on behalf of Sonya Ivey. MCHS also received the gift of a painting of Millbrook’s Toronto Dominion Bank by former resident and business owner Margaret Clifford. The artwork was donated by the staff of the Lansdowne West branch of TD Canada Trust.

Through a Memorandum of Understanding reached in 2023, the Historical Society has been very fortunate to have been allotted an area upstairs at the Millbrook Branch of Cavan Monaghan Libraries. While space is limited, Kim is able to meet with visitors and donors to the collection in the upstairs Used Book Room, and finds nooks and crannies to safely store the materials. Moveable shelving houses the catalogued collection in archival boxes and other cartons, making them accessible when people ask for information on local history.
