A devastating fire last month left an Emily Township couple and their son homeless, but not without support. Asleep inside their home, Cynthia Price awoke to the sound of flames breaching the exterior wall near the kitchen around 4:30 am, and quickly got her son Andy, husband Dale and dog out of the home. She had to wake a neighbour to call 911, but despite valiant efforts by the local fire department, the home and its contents were completely destroyed. The couple was without insurance at the time.
Immediate support came from “Omemee Relief”, but with only Cynthia’s purse, Dale’s glasses, his hearing aids, and a lottery ticket retrieved from their home, the couple faces an uphill battle to reestablish their lives.
Friends have arranged a benefit dance this month to get them started. Hosted by Golden Wheel Restaurant, the event features live music provided by local bands who will entertain the audience from 8pm to 1 am, Saturday, August 25th, . Advance tickets are two for $15 or $10 each at the door, and include a lunch and door prizes. Come and show your support and dance for a good cause. Advance tickets available at Golden Wheel Restaurant, 6725 Hwy 7, Cavan Monaghan. KG
