Galerie Q Fine Art Events

Galerie Q is gearing up for a busy fall. First, they are wrapping up an exhibit featuring artist Ginet Leblond entitled “Quebec’s Past Retold” which continues until Sunday September 4th. Leblond’s work has featured prominently in the gallery, which is the first one outside the province of Quebec to hold a large collection of her work. This solo exhibition features 30 works showcasing 18th – 20th century life in rural Quebec. Painting for over 30 years, Leblond’s unique passion for the arts has allowed her to experiment with surface and texture as a way to convey an emotional response to Quebec’s past. Her pieces demonstrate the meticulous research behind her art, which is depicted in her warm scenes that capture the spirit of the land and its people.

For the first time ever, Galerie Q is offering 25% off of the purchase of any Leblond painting. this rare opportunity allows you the chance to own an original work from one of Quebec’s most established artists through her Galerie Q which is her exclusive dealer in the province. Leblond’s paintings, with their historical and compelling subject matter, take on a life and lifetime of their own.

Another exhibit launches a new exhibit with an opening reception on Saturday September 10th running until October 16th called “En Plein Air: Traces of the Landscape”. Experiencing the landscape first-hand allows each artist to materialize, in real time, the essence of what each sees in nature. The results of this technique are unpredictable, because as the conditions change outside, so too does their canvas. This group exhibit investigates the relationship between artist and the outdoors and exhibiting artists includes R.W Burton (1905-1983), Yvon Lemieux, Juan Cristobal, Christian Bergeron, and Daniel Froment.

Featured Canadian Master R.W Burton (1905-1983) is well known for his painterly works created in the Ottawa Valley and most notably as a regular painting companion and friend to A.Y. Jackson, Maurice Haycock and Stuart D. Helmsley. Spanning a period of more than 20 years, Burton and Jackson travelled the lengths of Eastern Ontario and Quebec as well as Alberta, Alaska and the Yukon Territory together, depicting the environments they encountered as they traversed the uninhabited wilderness of the Canadian North. Today, Burton is often referred to as an En plein air artist whose body of work focuses largely on natural Canadian landscapes in formidable climates.

As part of their education and outreach efforts, Galerie Q is also launching weekly opportunities for discussions on Fridays from 11-12am called “Tea & Tours”. It will include a guided tour of the current exhibition, Q collection, and a brief history of each artist hosted by one of the curator followed by complimentary tea and biscuits, followed by discussion and questions regarding the artwork.

Galerie Q is a contemporary art gallery located in Cavan, exhibiting artworks primarily by Quebec-based contemporary artists and art masters. The masterpieces of the “Q collection” are comprised of more than 500 pieces of art treasures by Quebec and English Canada art masters who have achieved the RCA designation. KG
