During the Winter Classic Hockey Tournament last month, the teams took the opportunity to do some fundraising on behalf of the sister of one of their hockey players who received a cancer diagnosis just before Christmas.
Through a variety of fundraising initiatives at this hometown hockey tournament, the Millbrook Stars were able to donate $3000 to Charlotte and her family to help offset the expenses of her trips to Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto for cancer treatment.
Charlotte is the older sister of a current Millbrook Stars player and in her younger days was a Millbrook Star hockey player herself. While no longer a player, she has continued to help the organization, most recently in their Halloween Hockey Haunt Tournament for the U11 and U13 teams.
Millbrook Minor Hockey Tournament Convenor Lisa Leszkowicz-Reid wishes to acknowledge the generosity of the community and the visiting teams who contributed to this fundraising effort.
