Our local food bank, Millbrook and District Food Share, held an open house and barbecue on Sunday, August 25th.
We are thrilled to report that it was very successful with a sizeable number of residents attending to enjoy a burger and to learn more about Food Share. Those who participated toured the Food Share facility and received an information sheet on our operation–available upon request.
Special thanks go to many people who made the day possible. Josh Helm and Mike Cocomello from Foodland brought a BBQ and flipped burgers. The Millbrook Library was open and staffed by Erin Stewart. Many volunteers from Food Share worked at the event but extra credit goes to Dave Beeby, Lori Lazaros and Tamara Easto for organizing and running the day.
As always Food Share is extremely grateful to Cavan Monaghan Council and Staff for their ongoing support and provision of space at Old Millbrook School.
Our clients, all residents of Cavan Monaghan in need, know our doors are open every Tuesday from 3 to 5pm except for the 5th Tuesday of the month. Here they receive a warm welcome and much needed food.
We are proud of the work we do and we see our service as giving people in need, not a hand-out, rather a hand up. Donations of both money and food stuffs (please nothing expired!) are gratefully received.
