Fall into a Great Read…either at home or join us on a Learning Trail!

Let’s paint the town orange with paper pumpkins! Halloween is fast approaching and we want our patrons, and the residents of the township to spread a little cheer by picking up a paper pumpkin decorating kit from either branch, or from our community partners. Kits will be available from October 13th until October 31st. Display your finished pumpkin in your front window, or share it on social media (#pumpkincheer).

We are excited to announce that we are partnering with the Old Millbrook School Earlyon Child and Family Centre to provide weekly ‘Learning Trails’ for the community. Join us every Tuesday (11am at the Bruce Johnston Branch) and Thursday (11am at the Millbrook Branch). What does a Learning Trail look like? When you participate in a Learning Trail you get to experience a walk through mini lesson that is accompanied by a picture book story walk related to the specific theme of the week. Families can enjoy a physically distanced outdoor literacy adventure and also get hands on with individually prepared story extension activity.. We hope families will be able to make distanced social connections, enjoy some fresh air, and develop a love of reading. This program is weather dependent, please dress appropriately (rubber boots etc), registration is required (cutoff is 2 days prior to the date you are registering for) email tutor@cmlibraries.ca. This program is also brought to you in part by a grant from The Kimberley Foundation.

Grab your library card and join us for fun, FREE, family educational activities. Every week we will be curating a list of educational links from our online resource offerings. Whether it’s a meditation to try that might help ease a child’s restraint collapse at the end of the day, a fun exploratory art project, or a STEAM based video to prompt some critical thinking, there will be lots of interesting activities coming your way. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for all the details. If you need a library card they can be requested through our website, or drop into your local branch.
