Let Your Creativity Shine as Brightly as the May Sun…Join us at The CMLibraries!

We begin the month with a special edition of our Knit it Forward Club: Carol Nuttall, our guest instructor, will be guiding us through the construction of socks. This month our club will be meeting together twice, so that we can cover all the tips and tricks in relation to this pattern. Join us at the Millbrook Branch Saturday, May 4th at 11:00am (focus on turning the heel), and then at the Bruce Johnston Branch on May 18th at noon (focus on the toe and binding off). Our Sew and Sip project for this month will be a tote bag. Come and sewcialize on Saturday, May 4th at 12:00pm at our Millbrook Branch. Our French Conversation Club will be meeting at our Millbrook Branch on Saturday, May 4th at 1:00pm, this month’s theme is “At the Restaurant”. Crafts with Judi has a sweet Mother’s Day craft : An explosion box! This is the perfect size for candies and chocolates. Join Judi at the Bruce Johnston Branch on May 7th at 4:00pm or Saturday, May 11th at 10:30am at our Millbrook Branch. We are starting a new program called Tweens+Teens+Technology , this program will meet at the Millbrook Branch on the first Tuesday of the month (this month: May 7th at 4:00pm). Come and meet up with our teen ambassadors, Amara and Locklan, to channel creativity and humour into iMovie and green screen shenanigans. Our May 7th Toonie Tuesday Movie “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” starring Melissa McCarthy, starts at 6:30pm at the Millbrook Branch.  Our Homeschool Hub will be meeting up on May 8th at 10:00am at the Millbrook Branch, participants are asked to prepare a newspaper style article on the topic of Homeschool Hub that will be included in a final end of term newsletter. This month the homeschool students will be enjoying our new robot friends Dot and Dash, as well as OSMO, iPads, Makey-makeys, and more! Join us at the Bruce Johnston Branch on Tuesday, May 14th at 1:00pm for our first ever silhouette CAMEO Crafting, for our first session we will be making paper flowers. Join our growing gang of Cyber Seniors either on Wednesday, May 15th at 1:00pm at our Millbrook Branch or Thursday, May 16th at our Bruce Johnston Branch. This is a drop in style program where you can either bring in your own device to receive assistance, or stop by and enjoy some of our tech toys.  We are always happy to assist with questions about devices, call ahead and book a time at either branch.  Interested in genealogy? Our Ancestry Library Edition takes place every month at the Millbrook Branch, drop in on May 15th at 2:00pm. Pro tip: Come prepared with relevant dates, places, and the correct spelling of names. Our Cookbook Club will meet at the Bruce Johnston Branch on Saturday, May 18th at 1:30pm, this month’s ingredient is ‘maple syrup’. If you are interested, in joining check out a cookbook from either branch, take a browse, choose a recipe that corresponds with the ingredient of the month, prepare your recipe to present to the group, and then give a quick review of the book. We will also be starting a Community Crochet Club on May 25th at 11:00am at the Millbrook Club. We will begin with the basics and master granny squares (a size H/8 or 4.75mm hook is required). Anyone participating will be asked to donate a square or two to the library that will later be used to create an afghan.
