Digging Down into History – Friday, April 19, 2024

After a great Trivia Night held in late March, the Millbrook and Cavan Historical Society will be digging a little deeper into our history with guest speaker Tom Mohr on Friday, April 19.  As an archeologist and professor at the University of Toronto, Tom will be hitting fertile ground.  Not so far away, on a farm just west of Mount Pleasant, artifacts were uncovered in the early 1960s that identified a significant First Nations settlement.  It was believed to be approximately 15 to 20 acres in size, with a population of about 1000, active 500 to 600 years ago.

MCHS invites you to join us for an evening of discovery at our April 19 gathering, to be held in the church hall at St. John’s Ida Church on County Road 10, just north of Cavan.  This presentation begins at 7pm, with doors open at 6:45.  For information, visit us on Facebook or go to our website, millbrookcavanhs.org.  All are welcome.
