Ryan Huntley

I am Ryan Huntley and I would like to thank you for allowing me the honour and privilege of representing you for the past 2 terms on the Township of Cavan-Monaghan council.  I am looking for your continued support as I run for the position of Deputy Mayor.

I live here in Cavan-Monaghan, and am raising my children here because I see what it has to offer for my family and yours.  I want our children to live in a healthy, ecologically sustainable and prosperous Township and to be proud of where they are from.

For the last 8 years, I have been very fortunate to be a part of the Township Council for Cavan-Monaghan.  As a Council and as a community, we have faced a wide variety of issues and challenges which we have been able to navigate, together.  I personally have learned a great deal about the workings of municipal governments, interest groups, developers, partner agencies and most importantly, You!  I believe I can apply these learnings to serve our community even better in the expanded role of Deputy Mayor.

For 25 years I have worked in the Information Technology industry, bringing varied people together to develop solutions to complicated problems.  I keep an open mind and work collaboratively with people.  I build on our commonalities, and keep stakeholders accountable for things like scope, time and costs.

I will continue to put my skills to work for you, moving our community forward strategically and sustainably.

During my time on council, we have accomplished a great deal, including planning, designing and opening the Cavan Monaghan Community Center, modernizing township facilities and setting a framework for responsible long-term growth.  We restored cultural heritage sites, introduced new community events and festivals, and kept tax rates low, despite the loss of revenue when the casino left.

In moving our community forward, the key points of my platform involve:

  • a balanced approach to community growth
  • prioritizing Climate Change mandates and ecologically sustainable practices
  • keeping tax rates low
  • expanding recreation, arts and local culture
  • maintaining a spirit of collaboration in Council, committees and boards

We all share a deep appreciation for this special place where we live, and should have a voice in our community.

I will ensure your voice is heard.

Dean Del Mastro

The next term of council for Cavan-Monaghan is almost certain to be one of the most consequential in many years.  My name is Dean Del Mastro and I am running for the position of Deputy Mayor.

Elections matter, they provide each of us with the opportunity to have our say, select the leaders and representatives we feel are best and the platform ideas that best represent our collective views and objectives.  For a candidate, elections are hard work often involving countless hours of canvassing, posting signs, meeting voters and taking part in all candidates meetings or town halls.

In this election I believe that I offer a unique and proven skill set.  I am a husband, father, brother and a son; I am truly fortunate and blessed to have an incredible family and to be able to count so many as true friends.  I am an Honours Business Graduate from the University of Windsor (Hon. B Comm 1994), a lifelong farmer, successful local business leader and have served 9 years in senior roles as a federal member of Parliament.  I work hard and more importantly I get results for the people that are counting on me.

In many ways Cavan-Monaghan is at a crossroad.  City of Peterborough leaders are openly promising to annex 4000 acres of our township even while investors and developers are pressing to build and invest at an unprecedented rate and scale in our municipality.  Balancing these pressures with addressing the needs of our currents residents, our farmers and businesses is critical; it requires proven leadership, experience and expertise.

I will stand strongly against any effort or attempt to annex any land from our township.  I will support smart growth initiatives while working to attract the kind of investment that will build a more prosperous and sustainable future for each of us and more importantly for the generations that follow us.  I will work to support our agricultural producers, preserve our rural roots and expand our retail, cultural, knowledge and recreational footprint.

I envision a Cavan-Monaghan that is stronger, more united and confident.  Together we can achieve so much, together we will build a better future.  On October 24th I ask for your support, vote for Dean Del Mastro as your next Deputy Mayor.
